The watercolors of FRANCESCO SUMMO At the TENUTA PERNICE
Until the end of March the watercolors of Francesco Summo, Piacentine-Milanese artist, in fact Valtidonesi by choice to be more precise, will be on exhibit in the tasting room at the Tenuta Pernice winery. Summo captures the natural world in his works, a world of flowers, water, typical plains landscapes.
“I want to fix in images the common life” , Summo wrote to me one day, “I want to give image to the barbarian purity of a flower at its inviolated instinct, but also to its constant adaptation to the possibility of being alive”.
His painted cards are animated by a natural tension.
They try to live, to exist. They tell of a Nature saved from the human glance: that of the painter, that of the observer, when the eye sees and the heart feels.
So what poor things, a bit of water, a bit of shading, become colour and the forms are born, grow, develop on the page just as in a garden under the eyes of a watchful gardener.
From “L’occhio del giardiniere” (The eye of the gardener) P. Molinari 1995
